The sports arena named after Sopot's founder Jean Haffner is one of the primary investments. It was built in 2001 to celebrate 100 years, when Sopot was promoted to the status of town. This new and modern building is a place where many events and games take place all the season. There is a local baseball team called Prokom - Trefl Sopot. The team was established in 1995 and was financed by Kazimierz Wierzbicki, the owner of the firm Trefl. After a short time the team established a very fast presence in the first league in the season 1997 / 1998.

Asseco Prokom Sopot is a Polish professional basketball team. The team plays in the Polish League and the Euroleague. In its first season, the team won the polish third division and was promoted to the second division. In 1996-1997 after winning Group B in the second division the team was promoted to the top Polish league, the Dominet Bank Ekstraliga. In 2003, Asseco Prokom played in the final of the FIBA Europe Champions' Cup against Aris BC . Since 2004, the team has played in the Euroleague. In its first season it became the first Polish team to reach the Euroleague Top 16. Prokom hosts their Euroleague games at Hala Olivia arena in Gdansk . The first three seasons in the Polish first division were difficult for the newcomers. Despite many roster and coaching changes the team failed to advance to the league playoffs. The team's greatest success during that time span was winning the Polish Cup in the year 2000 under newly hired coach Eugeniusz Kijewski. The 2000-01 season was another step ahead for the team, as they again won the Polish Cup and finished third in the league in their first playoff appearance. During the next two seasons the team played in league's finals, losing both times, in 2002 to Slask Wroclaw 4 games to 1 and in 2003 to Anwil Wloclawek 4 games to 2. Since 2004 the team has been unbeaten in Poland , winning five straight finals. In 2004 they defeated Slask Wroclaw 4 games to 1 in the finals. In 2005 and 2006 they defeated Anwil Wloclawek in the finals, winning 4 games to 2 in 2005 and 4 games to 1 in 2006. In 2007 and 2008 they defeated Turów Zgorzelec in the finals, winning 4 games to 1 in 2007 and 4 games to 3 in 2008.
