Musical School in Sopot. School of music in Poland

The beginning of the Sopot Primary School dates back to the 1940's. In the years 1946-1954 the school changed its location many times. Since 1954 it has been housed in a picturesque place in Sopot, at 18/20 Obroncow Westerplatte Street. The pedagogical staff consists of 23 teachers. At present the school educates 163 pupils in the classes of piano, cello, violin, guitar, flute, clarinet.  Depending on the age of the pupils, they can receive six-year or four-year tuition.  There are also a choir and an Old Music Ensemble performing at the school. The will to play music together resulted in the creation of various chamber music ensembles. The school is engaged  in broad artistic activity like interschool concerts of the pupils and teachers, presentations of highly talented pupils of the music schools, environmental concert, participation in regional auditions, nationwide and international competitions.  Moreover, vivid contacts with music schools from the sister cities of Sopot (Frankenthal-Germany, - Karlshamn - Sweden) resulted in numerous concerts of foreign guests in Sopot. Swedish delegation has been to Poland several times and of the pupils and teachers of our school in Sweden and Germany. Many school graduates have continued studies in secondary music schools and in academies of music. Their professional life is connected with work in artistic and general education schools. Highly talented graduates are valued musicians both in Poland and abroad. Some graduates, led by deep sentiment to the school, have come back to it as teachers and now they are transferring their knowledge to the next generations. This tradition is particularly cherished, which creates unique atmosphere in the school.
