The monument of the fisherman was built in 1998 to commemorate old fisherman settlement which existed here until about 1820 when Sopot began to enter new era as a health resort. During this time the founder of the health resort former army doctor of napoleon army Jean Haffner buys these grounds to start construction of the first buildings of health resort in 1823. Today it is the busiest place with thousands of people passing every hour. In the vicinity there are countless places with fast food, restaurants, pubs and shops. This is the center of the town and it is very easy to find if you take the main street Heroes of Monte Cassino toward the pier and beach.
